. [ The Principles of Guild Wars 2: Conditions ]

Conditions

In Guild Wars 2, a Condition is a negative effect that can be inflicted against enemies through the use of skills and affecting traits. Conditions are characterized by their effect and duration. When a condition is reapplied (to a foe who already has it), some conditions will stack increasing in effect, some conditions will increase in duration, and a couple will have no change. When a condition is removed using a skill, the entire stack of that condition is removed. Condition duration is accurately added and will not be rounded. All damage dealt by conditions is armor-ignoring.

Note: Availabilty excludes underwater weapon skills, special conditions and random condition skills (such as "Winds of Chaos").

Bleeding

Bleeding is a stackable condition that deals damage over time.

Bleeding can stack in intensity up to 25 times and each stack does one pulse of damage per second. The damage dealt by bleeding is determined by the following formula:

(2.5 + 0.5 * Level + 0.05 * Condition Damage) per stack per second

Therefore at level 80, the damage output per second is 42.5 + 0.05 * Condition Damage; a value which can be stacked up to 25 times.

Available to: Charr Elementalist Engineer Necromancer Ranger Sylvari Thief Warrior

Blind

Blind is a non-stacking condition that causes the target's next attack to miss.

Available to: Elementalist Engineer Guardian Mesmer Necromancer Thief Warrior

Reference: List of Skills that apply Blind

Burning

Burning is a condition that deals damage over time and stacks in duration. The damage dealt by burning is determined by the following formula:

(4 * Level + 0.25 * Condition Damage) per second

Therefore at level 80, the damage output per second is 320 + 0.25 * Condition Damage.

Available to: Elementalist Engineer Guardian Mesmer Ranger Warrior

Reference: List of Skills that apply Blind

Chilled

Chilled is a condition which causes a 66% movement speed reduction and skills which are already recharging will recharge 66% slower. Stacks in duration.

Available to: Elementalist Human Necromancer Ranger Thief

Reference: List of Skills that apply Chilled

Confusion

Confusion is a condition which deals damage each time a foe uses a skill. Confusion stacks in intensity. The damage dealt by confusion is determined by the following formula:

(25 + 0.5 * Level + 0.075 * Condition Damage) per stack per skill use

Therefore at level 80, the damage output per foe's skill usage is 65 + 0.075 * Condition Damage.

Available to: Asura Engineer Mesmer

Crippled

Crippled is a condition which decreases movement speed by 50%. Stacks in duration.

Available to: Charr Elementalist Mesmer Necromancer Ranger Thief Warrior

Reference: List of Skills that apply Crippled

Fear

Fear is a condition that causes an enemy to be interrupted and run directly away from the player for a short period of time, usually 1 second. Fear does not stack.

Available to: Necromancer Warrior

Reference: List of Skills that cause Fear

Immobilized

Immobilized is a condition which prevents movement, turning and dodging. Immobilized stacks in duration.

Available to: Elementalist Engineer Guardian Mesmer Necromancer Ranger Sylvari Thief Warrior

Reference: List of Skills that apply Immobilized

Poison

Poison is a condition that deals damage over time and reduces outgoing heals by 33%. Poison stacks in duration and does one pulse of damage per second. The damage dealt by poison is determined by the following formula:

(Level + 0.1 * Condition Damage) per second

Therefore at level 80, the damage output per second is 80 + 0.1 * Condition Damage.

Available to: Asura Engineer Necromancer Human Ranger Thief

Reference: List of Skills that apply Poison

Vulnerability

Vulnerability is a condition which lowers the target's defense and stacks in intensity. The amount of defense removed by vulnerability is determined by the following formula:
(0.3125 * Level + 5 Defense per stack)

The effect is limited to 5 Defense per stack at level 1 and 30 Defense per stack at level 80.

Available to: Elementalist Guardian Mesmer Necromancer Ranger Thief Warrior

Reference: List of Skills that apply Vulnerability

Weakness

Weakness is a condition that causes attacks to result in a glancing blow (about 50-75% reduced hit) 50% of the time and slows endurance regeneration.

Available to: Asura Elementalist Guardian Necromancer Ranger Thief Warrior

Reference: List of Skills that apply Weakness
